Diego Jimenez
Metro welcomes Diego Jimenez
July 8, 2008

Left back Diego Jimenez, who turned down an offer earlier offseason, has been signed after agreeing to terms with RBNY and MLS. Jimenez, a 22-year-old defender, spent most of his career with Tecos UAG. He split the 2007/08 Clasura season between the senior team and Tecos' Primera A team (second division), playing two games for each. Once he plays, Jimenez would become the third Mexican-born player in Metro history, following Edmundo Rodriguez and Byron Alvarez... two of the most horrible players to ever play for Metro.

In other news, according to La Prensa, Honduran international striker Georgie Welcome is going on trial with Metro. Georgie is on the books of Arsenal of Roatan and recently trialed with New England.

Update: Juan Carlos Osorio denied the Welcome trial to BigAppleSoccer. "At this particular time, no," Osorio said.
